Where it all began
In 1953, Miguel Gargallo Lázaro opened the first hotel of the group in Barcelona with a simple yet ambitious dream: to offer hospitality that is warm, authentic, and truly moving. After the opening of Pensión Santa Marta, he acquired Hostal Lyon in 1958, laying the foundation for what would become Gargallo Hotels.
Rooted in passion
Staying true to his roots, he brought his passion for exceptional service to Aragón in 1972 with the opening of Hostal de la Trucha in Villarluengo. What began as a few small establishments evolved into a unique approach to hospitality: respecting each city’s history and heritage, restoring iconic hotels to their former glory, and creating spaces where every guest feels genuinely at home.
The legacy keeps growing
More than 70 years later, the essence remains unchanged: dedication, attention to detail, and a desire to move every guest who chooses us. Gargallo Hotels has grown into a collection of 21 historic and iconic hotels in prime locations across Barcelona and Aragón, always preserving our unique vision of hospitality and respect for each place’s history. And the best is yet to come: we continue to expand, open new doors, and craft experiences that surprise and delight every guest.
